Relatos del confín del MUNDO (y DEL universo)
At the southern tip of our planet hides a territory that was unknown to humans for most of its history: Antarctica. For centuries, the most daring explorers crossed the oceans and performed extraordinary feats in search of its shores. When their ships managed to weather the onslaught of bitter cold, the haunting of its nightless days and the threat of huge icebergs, what has been called ‘the last place on Earth’ became an obsession. Like astronauts in modern times, humans crossed a new frontier and pushed like ants into this immeasurable desert of ice to crown the southernmost point of the world with their flags. This is their story.
Today, a little more than a century after humans reached the South Pole, Antarctica has become a research centre, where experts from all over the world arrive every year to carry out scientific studies to understand our planet and the universe. Colombian astrophysicist Juan Diego Soler was one of them. In 2010 he landed for the first time on these icy plains to, with the support of NASA and the US National Science Foundation, launch a robotic telescope powered by a helium balloon into the stratosphere and see the light beyond the stars. This is also his story.
Tales from the Edge of the World (and the Universe) is a journey through words, maps and images to one of the most mysterious places on Earth, home to millions of penguins and thousands of whales and seals. It is a journey into inhospitable and inhumanly cold terrain, in the company of those who risked their lives in the name of exploration and those who return there today in the name of science.
LEJOS de casa

Polaroso is a polar bear who accidentally lands on a beach in the tropics. Confused and desperate for the warmth of this place, he meets a workshop dog who will help and guide him. Together they will embark on a journey in search of a cooler place where Polaroso can live and, in the process, they will understand why the temperature of our planet is changing and the risks of the climate crisis.
